Job Description:
Job Description Summary The program director must be assigned to
the program on a 12-month full time basis and at least 80% of that
time must be devoted to academic and administrative
responsibilities in support of the program and 20% of time may be
spent teaching courses. The program director must supervise the
medical director, principal and instructional faculty and staff in
activities that directly relate to the PA program. Minimum
Qualifications A current PA license is required. PA and PA-C
(current or emeritus) Three years of full-time higher education
experience at the time of appointment. Current or emeritus NCCPA
certification status. The successful candidate will have
demonstrated experience in management in a higher education setting
and must be either NCCPA or board-certified MD/DO. The ideal
candidate will have documented academic PA program teaching
experience as a principal program faculty, and at least five years
clinical and/or academic experience as a PA or MD/DO. Clear
understanding of ARC -PA Standards (v.4 and v5) Understanding of
program self-study process Experience with data collection,
analysis, and interpretation. Preferred Qualifications The program
director must provide effective leadership by exhibiting:
responsiveness to issues related to personnel, strong communication
skills, and proactive problem solving The program director must be
knowledgeable about and responsible for: program organization,
program administration, fiscal management of the program,
continuous programmatic review and analysis, program planning,
program development, completion of ARC -PA required documents, and
adherence to the Standards and ARC -PA policies.
