At GenMark, we specialize in developing and manufacturing medical devices that target early disease detection, including respiratory and gastrointestinal conditions. Our team works closely with the production and R&D departments to transform hypotheses into groundbreaking products.As the Scientist Analytical Development, you will work to provide analytical chemistry support for the analysis of the raw materials and reagents used in Medical Devices. Our culture is defined by the creativity, dedication, and empowerment of the talented people who work here.As a Scientist in the area of Diagnostics, your main responsibilities include the development and validation of UPLC test methods, LC-MS oligonucleotide analysis, and some routine sample testing. You work with other scientists and engineers in the organization and inspire others with your technologicalinsights and creative ideas.The OpportunityYou have experience in UPLC and/or LC-MS test methods development and validation, and scout for innovative technologies to analyze oligonucleotides, small molecules, and proteins. You have demonstrated the ability to develop, troubleshoot, and validate complex, sensitive UPLC and LC-MS test methods for raw materials and reagents. The test methods you develop will be used in QC in support of medical device production efforts.In the role you will be working approx. 75% of your time hands-on with the different analytical systems and software. You have hands-on UPLC or HPLC experience and understand the challenges of methods development. You inspire other scientists and associates and work collaboratively with other departments.Oversight and coordination of analytical requests within a project including direct communication to stakeholders and customers. You support product investigations and raw material testing in the SSI QC departmentWho You Are

  • Degree in analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry or similar2-4 years of experience in the development, validation, and application of UPLC and/or LC-MS methods for analysis.
  • Previous experience in quantitative LC-MS method development for small molecules andoligonucleotides will be a plus.
  • High spirit of collaboration and ability to work in a highly self-managed manner in a team with a sense of urgency and ability to deal with complex situations.
  • You are comfortable with statistical analysis of data using JMP or other software
  • You exhibit a growth mindset. You embrace opportunities to gain new skills and perspectives and provide honest feedback to others to help them grow.
  • You can radically simplify and prioritize for impact. You invest your time in things that accelerateprogress for Roche Diagnostic products and ultimately for patients.
  • You are interested in data & digital topics and keen on using IT applications to simplify data evaluation and reporting.
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English; basics of Spanish are of advantage.Relocation benefits are not available for this postingThe expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Carlsbad, CA is $82,500-$153,100. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
