Job Description:
The Lead Business Development Officer (BDO) serves as a senior
strategic leader within the Business Development team, providing
direction, expertise, and guidance to drive membership growth,
deepen deposit and loan relationships, and expand engagement with
Preferred Partners and community organizations. The role
strengthens team performance through mentorship, coaching, and
operational alignment while ensuring consistent, high?quality
outreach execution. The Lead BDO manages major strategic accounts,
advances partnership development, and supports organizational
business development strategy, all while maintaining individual
production accountability and supporting organizational growth
objectives. DIMENSIONS: Employee Support: Business Development,
Community Relations, and Marketing Indirect Support: Branches,
Member Service Center, and Lending Supervisory responsibilities :
The incumbent reports directly to the Director of Business
Development. There are no direct reports to this position. NATURE &
SCOPE: Serves as the senior subject?matter expert within the
Business Development team, providing mentorship, guidance, and
field support to Business Development Officers without formal
supervisory authority. Provides strategic leadership to drive
membership growth, deposit and loan expansion, and development of
community and Preferred Partner relationships. Strengthens
engagement with Preferred Partners and community organizations by
deepening existing relationships and identifying new partnership
opportunities. Enhances outreach consistency, team alignment, and
process efficiency through training support and best?practice
leadership. Contributes to business development strategy,
geographic expansion, and coordinated outreach efforts across the
credit union. Works directly with Preferred Partners to schedule
and execute on-site Member Days, workshops, New Employee
Orientations, and community or charitable collaborations. Serves as
a liaison between Business Development Officers and leadership by
elevating field insights, operational gaps, and improvement
opportunities. Works closely with Marketing to develop and deploy
promotional materials aligned with Preferred Partner and community
needs. Analyzes market trends, economic conditions, and community
needs to identify growth opportunities and emerging markets.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, or
equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5-10
years of proven experience in business development, sales, or
financial services. Demonstrated expertise in business development,
relationship management, and community/partner engagement within a
financial services environment. Proven leadership abilities with
skill in mentoring, coaching, and guiding peers to elevate team
performance. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to
interface confidently with C?level executives, business leaders,
and external partners. Advanced proficiency in CRM platforms and
business development tools, including the ability to use AI?driven
systems for contact management, forecasting, partner tracking, and
outreach optimization. Strong forecasting, analytical, and
trend?recognition capabilities to evaluate market conditions,
identify opportunities, and shape outreach strategy. Proven ability
to grow and manage a territory, expanding partner penetration and
increasing business development impact. Highly organized with
strong planning skills to support territory alignment, pipeline
management, and coordinated outreach. Ability to track, interpret,
and report on key metrics such as membership growth, conversion
rates, partner penetration rates, deposit and loan volume, and
outreach activity performance Working knowledge of credit union
operations, products, lending processes, and sales metrics. Working
knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Desktop Publishing and Data Entry.
Ability to operate standard business machines such as computer,
printer, fax, copier, and telephonic devices. Valid California
driver’s license. Ability to arrive at various location throughout
San Diego and Riverside County. Must bring table set up and arrive
on time. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES : Achieves individual production
goals related to membership acquisition, deposit growth, loan
production, and partnership development. Provides mentoring,
training, and best?practice reinforcement to Business Development
Officers to ensure consistent outreach, execution and teamwide
performance. Manages major strategic accounts and ensures strong
execution, partner satisfaction, and growth across high?impact
relationships. Collaborates with the Director of Business
Development to enhance outreach strategy, operational consistency,
and geographic performance initiatives. Maintains, tracks, and
reports on key business development metrics such as new
memberships, partner penetration levels, strategic account growth,
loan and deposit volume, outreach activity results, and territory
performance indicators. Provide a high level of service to
Preferred Partner groups and community partners. Requires
experience in new member, consumer and Real Estate loan processing,
loan structuring, and criteria. Promotes a professional CCCU image
and awareness within our communities. Must maintain registration as
Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) in compliance with the Secure and
Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act) and
regularly provide this unique MLO registration number to all
consumers as part of their daily work in mortgage lending. PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS: Excellent ability to communicate, both verbally and
in writing; ability to tolerate periods of continuous standing;
ability to operate and utilize a personal computer and peripherals.
Lifting of various brochure stands and tables. Ability to lift up
to 30 lbs. Ability to operate a vehicle as travel is required.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed outside the
office with extensive business travel required. Will frequently be
required to attend events in evenings or on weekends. Subject to
standard background noise found in an office environment and during
travel time, subject to variable weather and traffic conditions.
Note: Staff is expected to perform various tasks, projects and
administrative duties as assigned. Management reserves the right to
assign or change duties and tasks to this position at their
discretion. Salary Range (Annually): $98,827.4160 -
$123,534.2700
